Emma Grace Hurley is back on the podcast, and this time she’s getting ready for a big first: her marathon debut at the Chicago Marathon.
Emma Grace has put together an incredible year across just about every distance. She won the Cherry Blossom 10 Mile, set an American record in the 8K, finished second at the USATF 5K Championships, and most recently placed fifth at the World Half Marathon Championships in Copenhagen, running 66:23 as the top American finisher.
In this conversation, I catch up with Emma Grace ahead of Chicago to talk about the decision to move up to the marathon, how training has looked, what she’s learned from racing the half marathon, and how she’s approaching 26.2 for the first time.
Emma Grace is sponsored by ASICS and coached by Andrew and Amy Yoder Begley.
