Episode 556: Conner Mantz – Reflections on The Olympic Marathon and Finding a Strong Belief in Himself

Today on the podcast, I’m chatting with Conner Mantz. Conner finished eighth at the Paris Olympics this year, marking his debut on the Olympic stage. Last time he joined us back in February 2024 for episode 519, he came on with his training partner, Clayton Young. This time, I wanted to interview them separately, so we dive into Conner’s journey and his experience at the Olympics.

We also touch on his mindset in training and racing. Conner runs for Nike and Maurten, is a BYU alum, and trains under coach Ed Eyestone alongside Clayton. In this episode, we discuss his process of making the Olympic team, recap his experience at the Olympics, and hear about his future goals.

Conner is among the many athletes coming off the Olympics set to compete in the New York City Marathon this fall, and it’ll be exciting to see how those who just came off the Paris experience perform on the streets of New York.
