Lisa Taylor is on the show today for another episode of the high school coaching series sponsored by V.O2.
Lisa has been the coach at Traverse City Central High School for 30 years. She coached the 2008 Michigan State Championship team as well as the runner-up teams in 2004, 2010, 2014, 2019, and 2020. She has coached 41 individual All-State runners, 16 regional championships, 20 Big North Conference Championships, and 13 times coach of the year nominations from the Michigan Intercollegiate Track Coaches Association. She was Michigan High School Division 1 Coach of the Year in 2008. She also just retired from Executive Director of the Traverse City Track Club, Michigan’s biggest running club.
Lisa was a high school state champion in her own running career in cross country and track and field!
I loved hearing from Lisa that she doesn’t value how fast her athletes are running and instead about if they are having fun, if it is a good team environment, helping them become leaders, and how she can gain their trust.
