Episode 192: Nikki Hiltz

Nikki Hiltz likes to race and they likes to win. Nikki a 1500 meter runner for Adidas and runs with the Missions Athletic Club in San Diego, California. She’s just been running Pro for one year and has had huge successes so far in 2019- all starting when she raced the B.A.A. road mile and took the win in April. Last night they competed in the Prelims for the USA National Championships and they’ll be toeing the line this Saturday, July 27th to compete for a spot on the Worlds team in Doha this September.

Nikki holds a 1500 PR of 4:05 and has their sites set on making the Olympic team in 2020. She’s racing a lot right now to gain experience and put themself in every possible race scenario so that they are sharp and ready on any big day. Nikki has a laid back nature to that you will feel in this episode that’s just so refreshing.

Nikki is an advocate and supporter of the LGTBQ community which they are a part of and has become a role model for younger athletes and anyone really to stand up and be themselves. In this episode Nikki talks about how they don’t mind being called the gay runner because they are proud of both of those things. A lot of wisdom from Nikki today in both running and living to your truest self.

I was so honored Nikki was willing to chat with me week of their big race and now I’m extra excited for the finals tomorrow!
